Getting Started On Your New Website
Gather the Information
	The first step is to collect together all the information you have that can be used in your web site, identify any gaps and think about how to create any missing material. If you decide to include pictures that you don't already have, you need to take some photographs using a digital camera or normal photographs ready for scanning. Use our Web Site Contents pages to help you to consider what you might need and some possible sources.
Analysis
	When you have collected the information you need for your site, you need to think about the overall objectives, who you want to reach and the key messages you would like to communicate. You should also consider your budget constraints so that the designer can take this into account. Use our Request for Quotation form as a checklist for the information you have and your preferences. You can send us the form on line or by post and as soon as we receive it we will start work. After we review your information, we discuss your ideas with you as the first step in our process and we can advise about how to estimate the cost. We will then create an outline design and a quotation and discuss it with you.
Create the Site
	As soon as you approve our design and accept our quotation, we will complete the design of the site and create all the pages. We will send you a copy of the site on CD for you to look at and check. If we have any queries while the site is being created we will talk to you.
Arrange Hosting
	If you already have an Internet Service Provider, you may want to use it to host your site. If not we will recommend a hosting service and arrange it for you. It is possible that your Internet Access Provider allows you some free Web Space. We will advise whether to use this to start with depending on the volumes you expect. In general free Web Hosting does not provide the same guaranteed performance levels as a paid for service. We will discuss this with you when we talk about your budget and the cost of maintaining the web site.

Register your Domain
	If you don't already have a domain name, we will check availability and register one for you. You may be able to use it for your e-mail addresses as well as your web site.

Register with Search Engines
	We will register your URL with multiple search engines. We will also include keywords in your pages to make sure that you have the better chance of appearing near the top of search lists.

Publicize the Site
	As soon as your web site is published, we recommend that you include the URL in as many forms of publicity as you can. You might consider your Yellow Pages or Thompson Direct entries as well as your letters, business cards and advertising.
Track Activity
	Server statistics should be available for your web site that show the number of visitors and the pages they requested as well as other activity related items like the profile of visitors by the date and time, week and month. If you service provider offers these, we will show you how to obtain a weekly report of your web site activity.
